FALLSCHIRMJÄGER GRAVITY KNIFE
The WWII German gravity knife, known as the Fallschirmjäger-Messer or "paratrooper knife," was a specialized tool issued to German airborne troops during World War II. It featured a unique design that allowed it to be opened with one hand using the force of gravity or a flick of the wrist.
The gravity knife had a blade of around 4 inches, and its defining feature was its folding mechanism. It could be opened by releasing a catch or lever, which allowed the blade to swing out and lock into place. The design made it convenient for paratroopers, as they could deploy it swiftly upon landing without needing both hands.
