SS-Order Castle Wewelsburg Visitation Badge
The Wewelsburg badge, also known as the "Wewelsburg Honor Badge" or "Wewelsburg Castle Badge," was a decoration associated with the SS and the Waffen-SS during the Nazi era.
Wewelsburg was a castle in Germany that served as a significant site for the SS during World War II. Heinrich Himmler, the head of the SS, had plans to turn Wewelsburg into a spiritual and ideological center for the SS and envisioned it as a place of cultic significance.
The Wewelsburg badge was established in 1933 by Himmler and was awarded to selected members of the SS who had met specific criteria, such as displaying loyalty to the SS ideology and demonstrating excellence in their service. The badge featured a stylized, three-towered castle, which represented the Wewelsburg Castle itself, surrounded by an oak wreath.
This badge was distinct from the more commonly known SS runes and swastika insignia and was seen as a symbol of honor and recognition for SS members who were considered exemplary in their service.
