Product Overview

The German WWII Medallion for the Invasion of Crete, also known as the Kreta (Crete) Commemorative Medal, was a military decoration awarded by Nazi Germany to commemorate the successful airborne invasion of the Greek island of Crete in May 1941.

The medal was awarded to members of the German armed forces (Wehrmacht) and supporting personnel who participated in the operation. It was designed by Professor Richard Klein and featured on its obverse side an image of a German soldier descending from the sky with a parachute, representing the airborne assault.

The reverse side of the medal featured the inscription "KRETA" along with a depiction of a German eagle holding a laurel wreath, symbolizing victory. Below the wreath is the date "20. Mai 1941," which marks the commencement of the battle for Crete.
